XO Wine Co Nebbiolo is one of my favourite Nebbs from Australia. It has lovely richness, grippy tannins to match, and the dark, brooding flavours of young Nebbiolo. Kate and Greg’s mastery of taming all of this into a particularly enjoyable bottle of wine is evident in the speed at which the wine disappears. Pair it with mushroom risotto or leave it for 15 years, and I guarantee it will be hauntingly lovely.
XO Wine Co make small-batch wines from Adelaide Hills and McLaren Vale. The goal is to be hands-off as much as possible while crafting wines that are drinkable, varietally true and express the site in which they have grown. Disappointingly for me, the ‘X‘ and ‘O’ refers to naughts and crosses, not hugs and kisses.
