Description
Crystalline, pure, lifted. Delicious. And two of my favourite words together Tasmania Riesling. There is a delicacy and class here that is to be applauded. Lots of tropical and exotic fruits, floral characters and a stoney undercurrent. The palate is dry but supple and well balanced. No doubt this will improve with time, leave it until after 2020 for best results. This has the structure and power to match it with a hearty pork dish.
Brother and sister Anna and Matthew Pooley have taken the family business and evolved the style to be consistently one of the top producers in the state. Riesling and Pinot Noir are outstanding in a high quality range.
Tasmania
The beautiful Island south of the Australian mainland that has carved out a reputation for quality sparkling wine and Pinot Noir. Tasmania’s cooler climate regions and longer growing season make it perfect for aromatic styles of wine. A wealth of quality focussed producers have held lift the status of the whole island.
Riesling
One of the world’s most noble varieties and known transmitter of terroir. Riesling is an important variety for quality wine production although only makes up approximately 4% of the planted area. Wonderful wines are found in Germany, Austria, Alsace and Australia. They can be as dry as any wine you’ll taste or super sweet and luscious. It is a wonderful grape. See more about Riesling here.
