Description
Fruit for Botonero is sourced from the terraced vineyards around the towns of Sondrio and Teglio. It is made with 100% Chiavennasca (aka Nebbiolo). Fragrant cherry and roses are spiced with black pepper, aniseed and hung meats. There is freshness on the palate balanced by big Nebbiolo tannins add structure and length. There is a lot to enjoy here now. I’d drink over the next 3 years and enjoy it with duck ragu.
This estate in the terraced vineyards of Valtellina can trace its history back 70 years. Today though Mamete marries the know how of the older generation with modern innovation to find the best possible expression of Nebbiolo.
Terrazze Retiche di Sondrio IGT – Tied to the Valtellina DOC in the Alpine region of Lombardy. The mostly harvest Nebbiolo. At its best these wines can rival Barolo and Barbaresco for quality.
Nebbiolo – Famously producing long lived red wines which are light of colour, but abundant in tannin from Barolo, Barbaresco and various other local wines. This is the variety that defines the region. Typical flavours include: Tar, roses, anise, cherry, blackberry and truffle.
