Description
Domaine Aux Moines Savennieres-Roch-Aux-Moines is close to the pinnacle of Chenin in the world. The vineyard site was so much better than others in the area it was awarded its own appellation. The only other competition to the crown is Coulee de Serrant, which is the vineyard next to this one. Essence of Chenin with apple and pear, floral, flinty, smoke and a taut mineral drive.
Domaine Aux Moines Savennieres-Roch-Aux-Moines is a wine for people looking to taste the distinctive, terroir-driven expression of Chenin that should be as celebrated as wines like Montrachet and Clos St. Hune.
I was selling Domaine Aux Moines Savenneires way back to the 1997 vintage. As one of the most respected producers in the area, with holdings in the best sites, these wines are really what Savennieres is all about. These wines do improve greatly with age, but they are charming for their whole life.
