Warres Quinta da Cavadinha is one of the great Single Quinta Ports of the world. It ages as well as any Vintage Port I have had the please to drink.
This vintage has an almost Bordeaux-like flavour profile with a touch of Pedro Ximenez thrown in. Red currants, raspberry jam, tar, violets, dark fruits and raisins. The palate is silken with a hot streak of alcohol. The tannins are quite firm with the sweet fruit on top.
Owned by the famous Port barrons the Symington family, Warres is one of the classic old Port houses. Warre’s makes the quintessential black fruit, firm tannin, clean alcohol style of Port. With access to many great Port growing sites and the ability to shuffle substandard grapes into other revenue streams there is no reason for these wines are always rewarding and tasty.
