Description
You have here a Cabernet Franc from Slovenia. Why? Because it is delicious. Organic Cab Franc is fermented in stainless steel and finished in old French oak. This allows the beautiful of Cab Franc to shine. Dark and red fruits, spice, dark stones. You’re getting an elegant wine, long finishing and clean. Light to mid-weight but full flavoured, it is ready to drink now and will add some more savoury notes with time in the bottle.
The Štekar family grow on their 10 hectares of vines along with 22 hectares of cherry orchards, as well as an agriturismo. They have been certified organic since 2006 and are committed to having a low-impact from the vineyard throw to bottling. Bio treatments on the vines. Hand harvestings, natural yeasts, neutral acacia and oak barrels, no filtration or fining, tiny amounts of SO2 and letting the wine speak for itself.
Goriska Brda
Known as the Tuscany of Slovenia. Not just because of the quality of the wine. But also the beautiful rolling hills. Brda actually means hills. The terraced vineyards, subjected to the Mediterranean climate and higher rainfall produce arguably the best wines in the country. You can enjoy Reds and whites made using local and international grape varieties. The funny thing is, this region is an extension of Collio in Italy. There is only the notion of a national border that keeps them from being one region.
Cabernet Franc
Is actually one of the parents of Cabernet Sauvignon… along with Sauvignon Blanc (oh! The name makes sense now!). It is most famous for being the third most important grape in quality Bordeaux. But also excels in the Loire Valley (where it lived before it went to Bordeaux), especially Chinon and Saumur. The wines are bright red in colour, highlight aromatic with raspberries, rose petals, violets along with tobacco, cassis and some herbal elements. The best examples can live as long as any great wine.
