Description
A partnership between Don Lewis, Who spent 35 years as a winemaker at Mitchelton and Narelle King, the former accountant who saw the light and is now a winemaker. In 2001 they started working together and now they’re business partners. In 2006 Tar and Roses was launched and is focussed on showing the best of Central Victoria (not surprisingly). Nebbiolo, Sangiovese, Shiraz, Pinot Grigio and Tempranillo plus a wine they make in Spain and ship back to Australia.
Oaky, nutty, cola, sarsaparilla, meaty, graphite, waxy, really lovely nose. The oak on this one leant it to being from Tar & Rose rather than the region(s). The palate was dense but with fluffy red fruits. Long, lean and firm with oak being evident. The floral finish brings it back to balance and made it really good drinking.
