Description
Rene Rostaing worked in real estate but saw the light in 1971 and bought a real estate. In 2000 he started working on Domaine Rene Rostaing exclusively and now has 7.4 hectare within Cote-Rotie. He makes just three wines all 100% Syrah and made with 25% stems, 10% new oak and bottled without fining or filtration. These wines are detailed and elegant, showing the sheer power of Syrah on the roasted slope.
100% Syrah, 35-50% de-stem, natural yeast, aging half barrique, half 550 litre. Aged for 18-24 months, not filtered. Earthy, seeds, mineral, kero, stoney, graphite, hint herbal. Dense, silky, clean with a mineral core. This is a classy and elegant Cote Rotie that shows off the regions finesse, elegance and nuanced flavours. There was a lot to love about this wine. It is just a baby though. It needs another 10 or so years to really show its best.
