Description
Pieropan La Rocca is 100% Garganega from a unique soil profile in Soave. It is late harvested and given skin contact before barrel fermentation and aging on fine lees. Pieropan La Rocca is the pinnacle of what they make here and it is a wine that is stunning from day one. It can age gracefully but I never feel the need to find out because I just enjoy it.
Pieropan La Rocca Soave Classico 2020, and all wines are eligible for at least 5% off any six bottles. And 10% off any 12 bottles. Some wines will be at a more significant discount and not subject to further discounts.
By a fair stretch, Pieropan is the leading producer in the region of Soave. They have shown the world just how great Garganega (the main variety used in Soave) can be. Remarkably textured and while seemingly simple at first taste, Pieropan’s wines are always compelling, their Soave Classico a stunner but the single cru Calvarino and La Rocca are just beyond comparison. Often when you are facing a difficult food match, the answer is Soave.
Pieropan La Rocca Soave Classico 2020 Wine Review

“A deep golden color captures the eye long before the 2020 Soave Classico La Rocca can captivate with its sweetly-scented mix of white flowers, crushed almonds, apple and hints of vanilla custard. It’s texturally deep and opulent in feel, yet this impresses even more with its saline-mineral core and vivid blend of baked pear offset by sour melon. The 2020 La Rocca leaves a staining of primary concentration, along with hints of candied lime that seem to fizzle upon the senses. There is so much balanced pleasure to be found here. No rush, there is easily a decade of evolution in store for patient readers.”
Soave
A small region near Veneto that makes a distinctively textural and cleansing wine from the Garganega grape supported by Trebbiano di Soave and Chardonnay.
Garganega
A wonderfully crazy variety that could only come from Italy. It grows in the small region of Soave in Veneto. Introspectively interesting rather than overt, its acidity and texture make it the world’s ultimate food matching variety.
