Description
The inactive volcano Monte Calvarina is home to the vines of this Estate. The high altitude and volcanic soils are the reason Antonio Fattori can make compelx and elegant wines. The use of appassimento (sun drying of grapes) adds further depth of flavour. This is a Soave producer of the highest order. Interestingly, Antonio only uses Garganega in his three wines. However, after tasting his wines it is obvious they don’t need anything extra.
A stunning glass of wine. Subtle, grapey, stone fruits, lees, floral. It uses a touch of sundried grapes to add a bit of depth of flavour, this adds a bit of weight to palate and balances the acid well. This is a great wine at any time of year and you need a bottle of Soave in the fridge because it goes with absolutely everything.
Soave
A small region near Veneto that makes a distinctively textural and cleansing wine from the Garganega grape supported by Trebbiano di Soave and Chardonnay.
Garganega
A wonderfully crazy variety that could only come from Italy. It grows in the small region of Soave in Veneto. Introspectively interesting rather than overt, its acidity and texture make it the worlds ultimate food matching variety.
