100% Shiraz makes up Thompson’s Rose Mornington Peninsula. The Shiraz is crushed and the free run juice is taken away without skin contact. The result is a dry, moreish rose with clean acid and lots of character. Drink it over the next few years.

Merricks Estates original vineyard, established in 1982, allows for the production of beautiful wines made from Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. Bottle ageing before release is the cornerstone of Merricks Estate. Because of this, you get to drink them at their peak. Not only are the wines stunning, but they are so well priced for what you get.

Mornington Peninsula

One of many stars in Melbourne’s dress circle of vineyards. Varied success depending on terroir and wine maker but the best are outstanding. Pinot Noir and Chardonnay can excel with Riesling, Pinot Gris and Sparkling all capable of impressive wines too.

Shiraz/Syrah

A bit of a chameleon, Shiraz can change how it looks depending on terroir and/or wine maker influence. The Syrah based wines of Northern Rhone are dry and austere while the Shiraz of Barossa is rich and fleshy. A variety that lends itself to long aging but can be drunk at any time of its evolution.
