Description
A small family business with vineyards planted on the foothills of Mt. Parnon. Their vineyards are 750 metres above sea level and have ideal terroir. Clay-rocky soils and cool growing conditions are the perfect balance to Greece’s hot, Mediterranean climate.
The native Greek variety Moschofilero showing its wonderful best. Very lifted and grapey, floral, spicy and exotic with some lovely lees and toast underneath. The palate is dry but rich in the mid-palate with the aromas of the nose following through. This is a great aromatic white that happens to be from Greece. If you enjoy wines made of Muscat or Gewurztraminer you’ll love this.
Peloponnese – The most historic and diverse region of Greece. The North Eastern corner around PDO Nemea makes red wines from Agiorgitiko. The higher altitude PDO Mantinia makes whites and sparkling from Moschofilero. There is also PDO Patras where four appellation wines are produced, a dry white, two sweet whites and a fortified red.
Moschofilero – An aromatic white grape of Greek origins with a pink/purple skin. Grown throughout much of Greece but especially in the Peloponnese where it is traditionally used to make a dry and bold wine with lots of spice and perfume. It is characterized by a ‘rose garden’ bouquet and is usually paired with fresh fruit or fruit-based desserts. It makes still, sparkling, and dessert wines and can have characteristics similar to the Muscat or Gewurztraminer. It ripens late and can have problems with hot weather.
