Description

Jean Foillard Cuvee Corcelette is a parcel inherited from Agnes’ (Jean’s wife) parents in the lieu-dit Courcellette. These vines are 80 years old and sit next to the classic Foillard Côte du Py. Its granitic soils are a little different to the iron-rich schist of the Côte du Py and the cuvées express different terroirs, so are bottled separately.

Like all of their wines the Foillard Cuvee Corcelette is seduction: plush, tart, mineral, savoury, perfumed. I feel this cuvee of all the range is the most even and balanced, slipping across your palate in such a way that you could miss its quality. Make no mistake, this is every bit as good as the Cote du Py and perhaps one for the Burgundy lovers.

Jean Foillard and the Foillard Cote du Py are icons of French wine. From 1985 he followed Marcel Lapierre and Jules Chauvet into the depths of ‘natural’ Beaujolais.
