Description
Gorrondona is a blend of 85% Hondarrabi Zuri and 15% of Iskirita Zuri Hadia (Gros Manseng) and Iskirita Zuri Ttipi (Petit Manseng). Fermented with indigenous yeast in stainless steel tanks. Funky notes sit with floral and grapey flavours. Drink now.
Located along the Bay of Biscay near Bilbao. The significance of Gorrondona’s location is evident from the moment you step into the Bakio valley. The valley creates a steep-sloped amphitheatre that faces the Cantabrian Sea. The vineyards and winery were resurrected in 1990 by three friends who have transformed it from a traditional farm to a modern winery. All three permissible white grapes are planted here on clay with slate subsoil. There is also a unique two-hectare parcel of pre-phylloxera red Hondarribi Beltza. Committed to sustainable practices, they incorporate organic farming and the vines are planted pergola-style to allow air circulation in this wet climate.
