Description
Frankland Estate Isolation Ridge is one of the best Rieslings in Australia. The Isolation Ridge vineyard sits high on an ironstone ridge with ancient duplex soils of gravel and loam over a clay sub-soil. The first vines at Isolation Ridge were planted in 1988 and the vineyard has been progressively expanded to the current 30-hectares
This vintage of Isolation Ridge offers the characteristic texture, great balance and purity. The balance here is still outstanding. I have had older wines from here and they are brilliant. 2014 is a vintage that will improve enormously with another 7 years in the bottle at least. This wine will match with poultry or even game dishes.
Frankland Estate is one of Australia’s best Riesling producers. Making wines from the Frankland River Region in Southern Western Australia. Frankland Estate uses a lot of German, Austrian and Alsatian techniques to make textured and complex Rieslings from their wonderful vineyards, each vinified separately. I am a huge fan of the Isolation Ridge Vineyard and believe it is one of the top Rieslings within Australia along with Crawford River. It is not just Riesling though, Frankland Estate is pretty deft at making Chard, Shiraz and a lovely Right Bank inspired blend. Rocky Gully is the Frankland Estate entry-level range and always look to be bargains.
