100% Garnacha from 30-40 year old vines. This was fermented in tank put into old oak for 2 months to settle. It is glorious drinking. Plums, prunes and cherries with a hint of pepper steak. When it hits your tongue there is an explosion of flavour that spreads out to every corner of your mouth. Soft tannins, easy drinking and ready to go now. Steak is your best option but a bit of dark chocolate would be nice too.
Founded by the Gil family in 2005. The core of the Bodega is based on small parcels of old vine Garnacha grown at high altitude. The Gil family own a range of small wineries across Spain. Each committed to native varieties indigenous to the region which they are based.
Calatayud – A continental climate with good rain fall and poor, stoney soils means the conditions are perfect for growing red varieties. This DO is located in the Central Eastern region of Aragon.
Garnacha – Spain’s gift to the world. We know it as Grenache and I think everyone has a soft spot for it in some way. Almost too exuberant in expressing its sweet red fruits and high alcohol, it often needs a little bit of other wines to add moderation, structure and depth. Much like Abbott and Costello. Despite this the wines of Priorat, Chateauneuf du Pape, Rioja and Aussie GSMs have an amazing ability to age for the long term.
