In 1961 Berlucchi released a small parcel of sparkling wine. Such was the success that the next year they made seven times as much and other producers followed suit. Eventually Franciacorta became a name almost as revered as Champagne by lovers of great sparkling wine.
The Storica ’61 combines subtle aromatics, floral elements, citrus fruits and just a hint of lees. The palate is generously flavoured with a cleansing acidity and plenty of length. The wine is moderately creamy in the mouth and very satisfying to drink.
