Description
One of the best Fiano I’ve had from Australia. It has the yellow peach, silky mid-palate and phenolic crunch I look for. The nose is beautiful and it is just screaming out for some white fish. Aging is not necessary but another 6-12 months would probably unlock a bit more complexity.
Two ex music industry types started making small batch wines from some of the most distinguished sites in Victoria. The quality of the wines proves their calling was definitely in the vineyard and winery. Their range is ever expanding and lots of experimentation makes for some seriously fun drinking. Bags of flavour and great value. That is a winning combo.
Heathcote
The glamour region of Victoria for lovers of big reds. And the core production is Shiraz and Cabernet with ‘guts’. But it is a region that offers a lot of diversity when you scratch the surface. The cooler southern parts border Macedon and make lovely aromatic wines. There is a lot of experimentation and adoption of more drought resistant Italian varieties to great effect too.
Fiano
Historically important white variety. Now almost exclusively from Campania. Very rich and complex wines with ability to age. Tends to be quite rich and phenolic.
