The Pizzini family have done wonders for both the King Valley region and Italian varieties in Australia. Their operation is professional with the resulting wines being outstanding in quality. And the entire family are lovely people. Why would you not buy these wines?
Savoury, minerally and dough with lemon drops and white flowers. The acid in this with a hint of middle palate fat makes it a lovely all-rounder for food matching. I’d be looking for some baked fish, even with a tomato sauce. I wouldn’t age this wine.
King Valley – A picturesque region near Victoria’s snow fields that offers cooler climate wines. A strong Italian heritage in the area means there are a lot of Italian varieties grown.
Friulano – A variety that grows, not surprisingly, around Friuli in North East Italy. It is aromatic and understate at the same time. It can be quite textural but us equally capable of being a clean and lean drink too. Until 2007 they called this grape Tocai Friulano.
