Description
A collective of Estates that are all located in classic Southern Italian regions. Pipoli is in the heart of Aglianico del Vulture and rolls out crackingly good wine for prices that are amazingly cheap. What makes this wine so amazing is its ability to please the palates of both wine lovers and wine novices at the same time for the same reasons.
Pipoli is a great introduction to the variety of Aglianico. Lots of earth, game and floral notes this wine also shows a bit of new oak. Rich and pleasing and if you look a bit deeper there is a bit of complexity to be had too. It is drinking really well right now and will match with red meat.
Aglianico
Often called the Barolo of the South. Introduced by the Greeks into Campania and it spread to Basilicata and Puglia. It makes full-bodied, well structured and generous wines that age gracefully. Taurasi DOCG and Aglianico del Vulture DOC as the two quality leading regions for this grape.
Campania
One of the truly great regions of the South and steeped in wine history. Fiano di Avellino, Sannio, Taurasi and Greco di Tufo are all appellations that should be household names as they were in the distant past. These sun-baked vineyards offer so much to wine lovers.
