Description
Penfolds was established in 1844. They have been a significant leader in quality wines in Australia and are custodians to Australia’s greatest wine – Grange. They do make a lot of wine at varying quality levels. But their access to quality fruit means their top end wines are still leading quality for their styles.
Yattarna
Made since 1995 it is the the flagship white wine of the Penfolds brand. It is sourced from the best sites from their cool climate holdings in Adelaide Hills, Tumbarumba, Henty and Derwent Valley. The wine is 100% barrel fermented with new and old french oak and then left on lees with occassional stirring to add texture and weight. The wine develops complexity over the short to medium term.
2013
An elegant and classy year that is go down as on of the best in the 20 year history of the wine.
Chardonnay
The grape that you can plant anywhere, in any climate and do anything to and it will still taste like an OK wine. When people hit the sweet spot of site, climate, cropping and winemaking, Chardonnay becomes a magical wine that will age gracefully but charm you at any age. Chardonnays can range from cool climate lean and citrusy to warmer climate tropical and overt. Oak and lees can add flavouring as can malolactic fermentation.
