Description
Two heart surgeons from Adelaide own the Doctors’ Vineyard in the Polish Hill River. From 41 year old Riesling plantings that produce a high perfume and minerality. Perfect Clare Valley Riesling in fact. O’Leary Walker are clever enough to have seen this potential early and kept the batches separate so they can release them as a single bottling in outstanding years. A bit more work was put into this wine than a standard Clare Riesling to add extra layers of flavour and texture. This is a young wine that has been crafted to age for the long term. Drink after 2023 with a seafood pie.
Two gentlemen with plenty of years experience making great wine. Since 2000 they have made a great name sourcing fruit from trusted vineyards that they know consistently produce great fruit and crafting enjoyable wines. The Riesling in particular are great value, offering the classic Clare style that will age very well.
Clare Valley
One of the great wine regions of Australia. Known for its boney, citric Rieslings that build flesh with bottle age – a classic Australian style. It can also make some lovely Shiraz and Cabernet.
Riesling
One of the world’s most noble varieties and known transmitter of terroir. Riesling is an important variety for quality wine production although only makes up approximately 4% of the planted area. Wonderful wines are found in Germany, Austria, Alsace and Australia. They can be as dry as any wine you’ll taste or super sweet and luscious. It is a wonderful grape. See more about Riesling here.
