Description
A negociant house that was making some stunning Red and White Burgundy in the 90s & 00s. With great access to quality vineyards and a lot of care and thought in the winery this producer made a standout range of Burgundy under his own name. Unfortunately the negociant business feel out of his hands but Nicholas’ wines continue to impress and amazing.
One of the very hard to come by and highly regarded Premier Cru vineyards. Les Fuees offers the perfume and delicacy of Chambolle as well as the strong mineral drive. Plenty of very fine tannins and complex blue, red and black fruits. A delight to drink now but it is certainly not going anywhere.
Pinot Noir – This is the most elusive grape. It is relatively early ripening and extremely sensitive to terroir. Its perfect place on earth is the Cote d’Or in Burgundy. So haunting are great red Burgundy’s charms that growers everywhere try to emulate them. Pinot Noir is not just a one trick pony, it can make great reds, rosé, sparkling and even sweet wines, whites on occasion and I’ve tasted a decent fortified Pinot Noir too.
