Mon Tout Margaret River Shiraz is savoury, stemmy, clean and spicy. The pepper really comes through as does the dark cherries with a waft of violets. It is so delicious and great value. I’d suggest pairing with cotechino sausage. Drink now or drink in 7-15 years. It’ll still be amazing.
Made by the Howard Park crew, Mon Tout is about small batch wines. Striving to create wines of exceptional quality with as little inputs as possible. These are expressive wines that show another and rather attractive side of Margaret River.
Margaret River
Three hours South of Perth is this land of Cabernet and Chardonnay. Right on the ocean the climate allows the grapes to mature slowly on the vine. The wine are more powerful in the North and more elegant in the south. The best wines are world class and are priced to reflect this.
Shiraz/Syrah
A bit of a chameleon, Shiraz can change how it looks depending on terroir and/or wine maker influence. The Syrah based wines of Northern Rhone are dry and austere while the Shiraz of Barossa is rich and fleshy. A variety that lends itself to long aging but can be drunk at any time of its evolution.
