Description
Domaine Karanika was founded by Laurens M. Hartman and Annette van Kampen and produces some exceptional wines made from the Xinomavro grape. They farm their 7 small vineyards in the Amyndeon appellation biodynamically.
This is based on the 2011 vintage and is handpicked, made with the methode traditionnelle. Easily the equivalent of a grower Champagne. It is floral, with passionfruit notes, creamy, fine, elegant and just wonderful to drink. Delicious wine.
Xinomavro – These intriguing still dry red wines, aged for two years minimum, are noted for their bright pale to deep red colour, high acidity, strong tannins and complex aromatic character. The place of origin and most important growing area of the indigenous Xinomavro grape is north-western Greece, in the mono-varietal appellations of Naoussa and Amynteo. With a multitude of terroirs and elevations combined with Xinomavro’s ability to speak of where it is from, means there is a vast array of styles to be found
