Hattingley Valley Blanc de Blancs England 2011

$128.00

This wine has a lovely deep gold colour with a green hue and a fine mousse. The nose has delicate white fruit that gives way to a rich, toasty and honeyed charm. The palate is beautifully harmonious and complex – ripe apples with a crisp yet soft acidity that is balanced by a hint of oak influence. It has a rich and rounded mouth-feel and long fin-ish – as well as great ageing potential.

Description

Hattingley Valley was established in 2008, when Simon Robinson planted the first south-facing site. A modern, eco-friendly winery in Wield was completed in 2010. Their first wine was released in August 2013.

The 2011 vintage was a stunning example of what can be achieved in England. The Chardonnay grapes were harvested between the second and third weeks of October with a good sugar:acidity ratio. The record breaking temperatures in October (up to 29°C) coupled with plenty of sunshine, contributed to exceptionally ripe fruit and some wonderful wines.
