Description
Lovely perfume, elegant, clean. This is a very well handled Wrattonbully Sauvignon Blanc that will please a wide range of wine drinkers. No need to age it. Match it with a caesar salad.
Terre a Terre is French for ‘Down To Earth”. The wines are from a 8 hectare vineyard in Wrattonbully (near Coonawarra). Made with French sensibilities by Xavier Bizot and Lucy Croser, I am a huge fan of the textural and restrained nature of these wines that could easily be monstrous.
Wrattonbully
One of the most charming of the ‘boofy’ wine regions of South Australia. A lot of Wrattonbully used to be in Coonawarra until the boundary was redrawn so there is a lot of quality to be found here. The Cabernet is muscular and flavoursome, the Sauvignon Blanc is crisp and overtly fruity. The wines tend to offer great value too.
Sauvignon Blanc
Hero to many, weed to many more. Sauvignon Blanc sure does divide people. The pure expression of Sauvignon fruit is a stunning and exuberant array of tropical fruits with ripe herbs and plant material. It excels in the chalk, clay and sand of the Loire as well as the wonderful vineyards in Bordeaux for dry white and Sauternes production where Semillon curbs its outgoing nature.
