The Domaine is now run by the children of iconic winemaker Hubert de Montille. Their wines embody the Volnay spirit (the village where the Domaine is based), have the acid drive and focus of the region as well as it’s pretty aromatics.
While other parts of Corton can be as big as the biggest Burgundy Pougets is a vineyard that tends to offer red fruits, mineral power and finesse. But don’t confuse elegance and reserve with a poor wine. This is simply stunning Burgundy from an amazing year. I’m not sure if anyone but Montille could craft such a lovely wine.
2005 is thought of as a contender for the greatest vintage in Burgundy. Whatever your opinion, you’ll regret not drinking more 2005s.
