“I’ve been waiting for this wine to be released, knowing how good the 2018 vintage was in Margaret River. In fact, it goes further than my lofty expectations. Super-concentrated deep blackcurrant, mulberry and dark, plummy, chocolate flavours. There is an extraordinary brightness and vitality on the nose with exotic violet perfumes. Impeccably poised. A wine that will drink well into the second half of this century.” 99 Points Ray Jordan The West Australian, 4 April, 2020
With some of the first vines planted in the Margaret River, the Cullen family have made good use of them becoming one of the quality leaders of the West if not the whole of Australia. Excellent wines across the range. Using biodynamic farming and the highest amount of care and attention to make these wines. Their work with Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay and the Cabernet family is amazing; the fruit concentration, mineral drive and ageability are real highlights.
Three hours south of Perth is this land of Cabernet and Chardonnay. Right on the ocean, the climate allows the grapes to mature slowly on the vine. The wines are more powerful in the North and more elegant in the south. The best wines are world-class and are priced to reflect this.
The noble variety of Bordeaux’s left bank. Firm tannins, a streak of acidity and punctuated by flavours of cassis, violets, spice and leather. The best examples can age for the long term. Often blending with Merlot, Cabernet Franc or Shiraz will fix the hole Cabernet has in its middle palate.
