Description
Is it a place? Is it a frame of mind? Is it attainable by the beardless? These are but some of the questions to ponder while enjoying these wines. Curated and sometimes blended by The Wine Depository owner Philip Smith.
Whatever your facial hair situation you are guaranteed to get a wine that offers value and flavour well beyond compare. The Bearded State team is committed to finding you interesting wine varieties and styles that are approachable, enjoyable and great value.
Dry, floral, grapey, a hint doughy and with a fair bit of fizz to it. This wine is a stunning aperitif. Would be great with a wide range of canapés and especially lovely with oysters. Don’t age it, don’t look for lots of complexity, just enjoy the fresh, light and crisp simplicity.
King Valley – A picturesque region near Victoria’s snow fields that offers cooler climate wines. A strong Italian heritage in the area means there are a lot of Italian varieties grown.
Prosecco – Is the name of the region and grape variety used to make it in Italy. By using the cheaper charmat method to make the wines and in recent times pushing up the quality, the Italians have cornered the ‘poor person’s Champagne’ market. Look out of the variety to change name to Glera in the next few years.
