3 Ravens Black Oatmeal Stout is just in time for winter. I’m hanging out to try the 3 Ravens Black Oatmeal Stout with Bellavitano’s Espresso rubbed cheese.
“a smooth and silky stout with mild roast character and a creamy texture derived from oats. Now seasonally brewed to coincide with early winter, Black was given a facelift in line with our focus on fresh local malt and hops and to enhance drinkability. While the colour may seem intimidating, this black beer is anything but. With mild chocolate and smooth coffee notes, Black Oatmeal Stout features a silky texture and refreshing acidity, with subtle berry notes, toffee and a soft finish.” – 3 Ravens brewing team.

3 Ravens came to life in 2003. If I remember correctly, it was originally a tiny brew set up for an Engineering firm. But they loved the beers and turned them in a commercial product. Their original brewery used to shop with me so I was an early supporter, but the beers have changed a lot since then. They are one of the best ranges of beers I have tried. Oh and the 3 Ravens Juicy is probably my favourite beer to drink.
Stouts were actually a style that was descriptive. You had Stout Porters which had more weight, and often alcohol. Porter being the main style of beer before pale malts allowed for pale beer. Stouts are often quite bitter, with lots of roasted and dark malts to give them the distinctive colour, weight and flavours.
