Oregon

Sort
Oregon

Geographically North of the much more famous Californian wines regions but in terms of overall quality Oregon is head and shoulders above its neighbour. Especially if you love Pinot Noir. And especially if you are talking about the Willamette Valley.

Thankfully, as a rule the wines here are not as expensive as compared to California.

Willamette Valley

The most famous of the Oregon wine country and for good reason: This is possibly the best place in the USA for Pinot Noir. The wines retain an elegance and class due to the cool climate and moist conditions.

Grape Varieties

Pinot Noir is the stand out. Pinot Gris can also excel. Chardonnay and Riesling are the other two whites you want to keep an eye out for.
