Central Otago

Grabbed more then their share of world renown for full bodied and powerful Pinot. Searching beyond the big names in Central Otago you’ll find pockets of fascinating wines from subregional experiments to aromatic whites.

Grapes

Pinot Noir will always be their flagship which has seen international winemakers, including Burgundians and Champenois , invest in the area. However, Off-Dry and dry Riesling have found a good home here too. Along with richer styles of Pinot Gris and Chardonnay for table wine and sparkling wine.

Regions

There has been a lot of investigation and therefore use of Sub-regions and single vineyards to great effect.

Producers

There are countless great producers in the region. In no particular order you can always rely on Quartz Reef, Mount Difficulty, Carrick, Craggy Range, Pyramid Valley, Felton Road, and many more.
