The region that was a gold and prison town long before it was famous for wine. Beechworth has a lot to offer wine lovers. With a good diversity of styles from rich Chardonnay to Pinot Noir as well as Shiraz and Cabernet all doing well it is a must visit. Giaconda is the most famous name in the region but other wineries have crafted reputations for quality. Serious work into the terroirs has seen that Beechworth is probably in fact three or four distinct regions.
