Description
Re-established on one of Yarra’s great vineyards of the 1800s, this is still one of the oldest vineyards in the region. The de Pury family craft small batches of wines that have a quality particular to their hill. Powerfully ripe but with a finesse and elegance that allow them to age for a long, long time. Cabernet, Chardonnay and Pinot are the stars but the Marsanne Roussanne is the dark horse of the line-up.
A wonderful wine. Honeysuckle, candied limes, white flowers, white chocolate and a doughy/lees element. The wine coats your mouth with yummy flavours that hang around for a long time. There is some fine acid and light phenolics hidden under the blanket of fruit and flavour. History has proven the wine will age really well.
Marsanne and Roussanne– The grapes that add, texture, structure and sobriety to the Rhone Valley’s ostentatious Viognier. Without their flamboyant partner the wines tend to be rich, understated but very well balanced. In the right hands there is amazing perfume and fruit to be coaxed out. Marsanne especially has a surprising ability to improve significantly with aging.
