Description

Vin de Soif is a great name. Vin is Wine, de is of/for (in this context). But Soif can mean thirst, desire, longing, eagerness, and craving. So what I take is that this Grenache based wine is a wine for all occasions. Lighter in style, fresh, flavoursome but uncomplicated and certainly unpretentious. Able to be chilled in warmer conditions too.

It is a story about new beginnings; a young couple, with a young family, forging their own path within a wine region as first generation winegrowers. As you may expect, they are not steeped in (or weighed down by) tradition, so they are creating their own style. Lighter, earlier picked wines with personalities that build in the glass. Fascinating and engaging to drink.

Barossa Valley

One of the major wine regions or Australia. Known for making great Shiraz by any standard as well as Grenache, Mataro, Semillon and much more. There has been a lot of work finding the sub-regions that excel for each style and variety planted.

Grenache/Garnacha

Spain’s gift to the world. We know it as Grenache and I think everyone has a soft spot for it in some way. Almost too exuberant in expressing its sweet red fruits and high alcohol, it often needs a little bit of other wines to add moderation, structure and depth. Much like Abbott and Costello. Despite this the wines of Priorat, Chateauneuf du Pape, Rioja and Aussie GSMs have an amazing ability to age for the long term.
