Description

This estate was established in 1849 by Franz Peter Buhl. At the start of the 20th century, Von Buhl wines commanded higher prices than top Bordeaux or Burgundy! Yet, as with the vast majority of German wine producers, this Estate slumped in the 70s and 80s, underperforming despite having some of the best vineyard sites in the region. Over the last fifteen years, Von Buhl has managed to return its wine quality to the highest levels. The Estate’s impressive portfolio of vineyards is principally located in the villages of   Forst and Deidesheim. The vineyard specific wines are very impressive while the entry level Qba is ridiculous value.

The monster (translation of ungeheuer) of Forst. Along with direct neighbours Pechstein and Jesuitengarten this is one of the truly remarkable vineyards in the Pfalz and Germany. Powerful, mineral, clean and driven. 2010s are wines to keep for a long time. The rewards will be well worth the wait.
