Trimbach Frederic Emile Riesling Alsace 2010

$136.00

Trimbach Frederic Emile is quite a wine. Riesling from two great sites in Alsace. You’ll enjoy the wine now but the aging potential is great.

Description

Trimbach Frederic Emile is a blend of Geisberg and Osterberg. The vines have an average of 45 years. Dry, concentrated and fresh. This is a wine to keep for the long term.

Prominently briny and alkaline in a manner that comes as no surprise given the showing of the corresponding classic and Reserve bottlings, Trimbach’s 2010 Riesling Cuvee Frederic Emile delivers mouthwatering intrigue of oyster liquor, iodine, and oyster shell, its near severity and rmness akin to 2008 but its infectious juiciness and sheer energy more impressive. White peach with its pit as well as hints of huckleberry, sloe berry and nut oils lend succulence as well as piquancy to the long, lemony, almost piercingly bright, minerally palatecoating nish. Tasted alongside the corresponding 2011, this proves even clearer and more rivetingly dynamic. I anticipate it excelling through at least 2028.’ 94 points, David Schildknecht, RobertParker.com, August 2014.

A classy and well-respected producer from Alsace. Since 1626 Trimbach has built up large vineyard holdings in some of the best sites. Including the much-lauded Clos Ste Hune – possibly the best site for Riesling in the entire world.

Alsace

The French, if not world capital for aromatic white production. Famous for its Pinots Gris and Blanc, Gewurztraminer, Riesling, Sylvaner and blends of all of the above and more. Textural, aromatically complex and capable of making a huge array of flavours and styles.

Riesling

One of the world’s most noble varieties and known transmitter of terroir. Riesling is an important variety for quality wine production although only makes up approximately 4% of the planted area. Germany, Austria, Alsace and Australia all produce wonderful Riesling. They can be as dry as any wine you’ll taste or super sweet and luscious. It is a wonderful grape. See more about Riesling here.
