Description

Spinifex is a gem of a producer based in the Barossa Valley. Through share farming and good relationships they have access to some great vineyard sites which they use to craft their wines. There is a strong focus on the sandier soils of the Barossa so they make lighter, more aromatic and elegant wines (by Barossa standards of course). Pete and Magali really craft their wines to reflect a sense of place, have texture and savoury qualities. Whats more the wines age remarkably well if you give them a chance.

Shiraz of which 70% is Barossa and 30% Eden Valley from the compressed and lovely 2010 vintage. There is about 7 blocks that went into this blend and the resulting wine is a beautiful, elegant affair. Floral, earth, tea leaf, grainey, bubble gummy. It has a very long finishing palate with great density of fruit. The floral notes linger and are a great foil to the dark fruits. Bete Noir is great for drinking now but will evolve with time and I’d think this wine would happily wait until 2020 to really strut its stuff.
