Description

Brothers Salvatore and Paolo Politini moved to Australia from Sicily in 1959. In 1989 they planted vines in the King Valley and launched their own label in 2000. Recent additions of Sicilian varieties in the vineyard further complement their range of wines and add a nice sense of history.

Be warned, this won’t jump out of the glass and dazzle you. Grecanico aka Garganega works in subtle and mysterious ways. It looks a bit simple at first, then your glass has vanished, then the whole bottle. Citrus, grassy, melon and almonds. It’s very fresh and clean with just a hint of texture on the mid palate. There aren’t many dishes this wine can’t pair admirably.

King Valley – A picturesque region near Victoria’s snow fields that offers cooler climate wines. A strong Italian heritage in the area means there are a lot of Italian varieties grown.

Grecanico – A wonderfully crazy variety that could only come from Italy. Known as Garganega it grows in the small region of Soave in Veneto. On Sicily it is called Grecanico. The wines are introspectively interesting rather than overt, its acidity and texture make it the world’s ultimate food matching variety.
