A taste of classic Sancerre. Younger drinking than the top levels it shows what Sauvignon Blanc is capable of.

Description

An quickly evolving nose. It rotates through herbaceous notes, ripe melons and passionfruit, flint, stoney earth, floral, kumquat, peach, mandarin. Tart acid up front and at the back. In the middle the fruit broadens out to give texture. The flavours linger happily on my palate for a long time. Drink over the next 3 years. Enjoy with Chevre (local goats cheese).

Based in the tiny hamlet of Maimbray. Famously located in a valley surrounded by chalk hills adjacent to Chavignol and Verdigny. Small crops are hand harvested with the plots fermented separately. Modern and traditional methods are used int he winery to craft their cuvees. They are fresh, focussed and well made examples of white, rose and red Sancerre.

Sancerre

The land where Sauvignon Blanc excels. This distinct chalk outcrop in the Loire Valley creates mineral and nervy whites that are capable of long aging. The reds and rose from Pinot Noir can be impressive.

Sauvignon Blanc

Hero to many, weed to many more. Sauvignon Blanc sure does divide people. The pure expression of Sauvignon fruit is a stunning and exuberant array of tropical fruits with ripe herbs and plant material. It excels in the chalk, clay and sand of the Loire as well as the wonderful vineyards in Bordeaux for dry white and Sauternes production where Semillon curbs its outgoing nature.
