Description

Mitolo’s larger production levels means it is seen in a lot of places. That doesn’t mean they can’t turn out some great wine from their McLaren Vale home. Bold reds and surprisingly delicate whites are the go here.

Light, fresh and simple. Clearly someone at Mitolo has a love of this variety that I still believe is the next big thing in Australia. This have hints of floral notes, brine, apricot. It is lovely and dry on the palate. Clean and long finishing.  This is a sunshine wine it just requires some finger food or go crazy and invest in some seafood. And some company… maybe. Drink it this summer.

McLaren Vale

The maritime climate and sandy soils of McLaren Vale make it a great place for growing grapes. Reds in particular excel here. Shiraz of course, but the Spanish varieties Grenache and Tempranillo seem well suited too. The maritime climate helps mitigate some of the heat from the SA summers and the sandy soils mean that phylloxera could not survive and so they have some of the oldest vines in the world.

Vermentino

An impressive white grape suited to warm coastal regions from Liguria down to Bolgheri and Sardinia. Rich aromatics and great texture.
