Description

A classically styled Valpolicella Classico. Made from 70% Corvina and Corvinone with the balance being Rondinella, Croatina and Molinara. This is a fresh, lighter wine but with a few years under its belt is looking great. Fleshy, red, hints of spice, quite soft and therefore easy to drink. Valpolicella is so affable that it matches a wide range of foods. Sopresso and dark chocolate are two of my favourites though. This wine is ready to drink now or over the next few years.

The Scamperle family has cultivated vineyards for generations. Currently they have twenty hectares of Valpolicella. Focusing on the the most classic varieties for the area: Corvina, Corvinone, Rondinella and Molinara. Winegrowing here  never forces nature’s hand, but favours the rhythms of nature to exalt the characteristics and originality of the Valpolicella terrain. Making the whole range from Valpolicella to Ripasso and of course, Amarone.

Valpolicella

An amazing region that is also home to the must be tasted to be believed Amarone wines made from air dried grapes.  The standard Valpol is juicy, fleshy and amiable. Often one of the safer choices on an Italian wine list.

Valpolicella Varieties

The varieties used to make are predominantly Corvina, Rondinella, Molinara. Generally they are quite bland on their own. It is not until they are blended together they make beautiful wines.
