Description

Made from a kind of Zinfandel known as Plavac Mali. A native to Croatia this has that hallmark raspberry, cherry ripe and coconut. It’s rich and silky with plenty of character. It’s a wine for boldly flavoured stews and it is a wine to drink soon.

Dingac, confusingly has two meanings on this label. It is the name of the region. But in this case it refers to the co-operative that has been running since 1902. It currently has 330 members and 293 hectares to support them. They have two noted vineyard sites that benefit from what is known as triple insolation. The vines get direct sunlight, reflection from the sea and reflection from the rocks. This allows the native Plavac Mali (a kind of Zinfandel) to get ripe and powerful.

Croatian Wine

I am by no means an expert with only a limited reference level. But the is such an amazing array of flavours and textures on display. The best part is, they are all equatable to wines styles we already know. So while the names might be foreign (ha!), the flavours are very much within most wines lovers sphere of knowledge. I heartly encourage you to take the leap and at least taste some of these wines. You will be happy you did.
