Cornelia Creek Brunello is delicious. Like a classic Sangio it is dry and savoury. Showing cherries and leather. A lovely silk to the mid-palate.

Description

Now here we have something rare. Certainly the only one of its kind in Australia. A Brunello grown in Echuca. To clarify, I would assume they use the Sangiovese Grosso clone (ie the Brunello Clone). Most importantly, Cornelia Creek Brunello is delicious. In the same vein as any classic Sangio it is dry and savoury. Showing cherries and leather. As a result of time in the bottle it now has a lovely silk to the mid-palate and is drinking wonderfully. I’d pair this with gourmet sausages.

Cornelia Creek is a mixed farm with vines, orchards and live stock 17km from Echuca. Their two blocks of vines were planted in 1998 & 99. They make use of the warm conditions to make flavoursome wines which are great drinks and offer great value.

Sangiovese

Sangiovese is certainly one of the most important grapes in Italy. Widely cultivated across Italy from Emilia-Romagna to Campania and producing as much wine as Barbera. A wide range of clones and hugely diverse growing conditions sees the variety represent easy drinking ‘quaffers’, all the way to benchmarks such as Brunello di Montalcino, Chianti, Sangiovese di Romagna and Morellino di Scansano.
