Description

This is the definitive Salta Malbec. The high altitude allows the grapes for this wine to hang on the vine. They become perfectly ripe and full of acid and aromatics. An intensely structured and refined Malbec that is bolstered by the tannicly tough Tannat, with some Cabernet, Syrah and Petit Verdot too. You can enjoy this wine now but the class of Malbec will really shine through if you can give it another 5-15 years of careful aging. Match this wonderful Salta Malbec with char-grilled beef of course.

Established in 1831, Bodega Colome is Argentina’s iconic high altitude producer. Colome is home to the highest vineyards in the world at 3111 metres above sea level in the Calchaqui Valley.

Salta

This province lays claim to the highest vineyard in the world. Big diurnal temperature variations means these wines are elegant and high in acid. Great for Torrontés but the reds do very well if you like lots of structure.

Malbec

A native to South-West France especially in the underappreciated Cahors and a minor player in Bordeaux. It has long been the star of Argentina. Known for making Intense, tannic, dark-fruited wines with nice acidity. Perfect match for a country that consumes a lot of meat.
