Description
On the western side of the island of Sicily you’ll find this estate, founded in 1980. Their 1300 hectares sit in three distinct regions of Western Sicily and offer a wide range of both native and international grapes. Further expansion into Puglia and Tunisia gives the family a access to many styles and varieties. Value plus! This is classic: Plums and prunes with bits of leather and earth with a juicy and round palate. Everything you want from good Nero. Don’t age any longer, just glug shamelessly with a nice steak or roast lamb.
Sicily – In a constant tussle with Puglia to win the title of largest volume produced each year, the wines of Sicily are as varied as its history. Delicate whites, full bodied reds and of course Marsala show the variation in climate and abilities of the various regions within the Island.
Nero d’Avola – Sicily’s boldest red grape. It is capable of getting very ripe, is very charming but can lack acidity. It is often blended with other varieties to balance out its exuberance.
