Understanding Burgundy 21st March 2015 @ Mezzo 2-4pm

March 21, 2015 @ 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm

$10

Burgundy is the home of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. From this region they produce some of the most exquisite and long lived wines in the world.

Viticulture has been shown to have started in the second century AD in what became the world’s most important wine region.

Monastic orders moved in and became important land holders over the early history. But more importantly the Cistercians noticed the difference between their different vineyards’ quality and started to keep the parcels separate. There was the birth of both the cru system in Burgundy and the concept of terroir.Dujac 82
