Meat and Wine Festival Featuring Tannat and Malbec @ Meatmaiden. Tuesday 27th September 2016
September 27, 2016 @ 7:00 pm - 10:00 pm
$100In an attractive den we’ll congregate to worship the union of full bodied red wine with meat from the grill. Meatmaiden know what they do and they do it well (I’ve made sure of it).
Over a decidedly meat focussed dinner we’re going to take our time to savour the food with six wines from two varieties with big personalities Malbec and Tannat. To give you a broad and full scope of flavours and styles they will come from diverse places: South America, South West France, South Australia.
The tannic and chewy wines made from the grape Tannat will be from Uruguay, Madiran and Barossa Valley.
Contrasted with the distinctly heterogeneous Malbec wines from Argentina, Cahors and Barossa Valley.
This will be an engaging, fun and educational night we’ll nail what makes these two varieties so good and why you need them at your next BBQ.
The wines we’ll taste will be as follows:
Messina Tannat Barossa Valley 2012
Bodega Garzon Tannat Uruguay 2014
Ernesto Catena Tahuan Malbec Uco Valley 2013
Mas del Perie Les Escures Cahors 2015
The menu will be classics from the Meatmaiden menu. It’d help to have the Meatmaiden team at your next BBQ too.
Pickled heirloom veg, olive crumb, buttermilk dressing.
Spanner crab lettuce cup.
Crispy chicken ribs w/ fermented chilli mayo.
20-hour Rangers Valley Wagyu brisket, Tasmanian pepper berry rub.

What to Expect at this Dinner.
6 quality wines that are red meat appropriate. It is enough wine for a good night but not so much that you won’t be effective at work the next day (I can’t be held responsible if you kick on though).
I will be there to give a casual but informative chat about the wines as we eat.
Meatmaiden will prepare the dinner of their lovely set menu.
I have two goals for these events. 1. To share lovely wine with you. 2. To educate you on the wine world and demystify it.
The environment is casual and friendly. There is no need to know anything about wine and you are welcome, nay, encouraged to ask as many questions as pop into your head.
You can purchase the wines you enjoy at a great price on the day of the tasting to enjoy at your leisure.
You can bring as many friends as you can muster.
All for the bargain price of $100 per head.
